Halloween Hand Made from Egg White – Edible Creepy Hand for Halloween

Halloween Hand Made from Egg White

This creepy Halloween hand is made almost entirely from egg white. The egg white is cooked inside a food-safe disposable glove and then transformed step by step into a spooky Halloween hand using food coloring and ketchup.

Steps at a Glance

• Turn a food-safe disposable glove inside out and carefully blow a little air into it so the fingers unfold.

• Fill with about 250 ml of egg white and securely close the glove.

• Place the filled glove in cold water and slowly heat it to 70–80 °C (158–176 °F). Then cook for about 45 minutes without allowing the water to boil.

• Keep the side that will later become the underside of the hand facing upward while cooking. This allows rising air bubbles to collect mainly on the side that will later be hidden.

• After cooking, carefully wrap the hand in towels and let it rest for about 1 hour.

• Carefully cut open the glove with scissors and peel it away from the egg-white hand piece by piece.

• Trim the finished hand as desired, decorate it with food coloring, and create a creepy presentation using ketchup or red sauce.

Result

About 250 ml of egg white creates an unusual edible Halloween hand. Small cracks or even a broken finger are no problem – with a little ketchup or red sauce, they can even become part of the creepy design.

My Tip

If possible, use a small food-safe disposable glove, for example size S. While cooking, keep the side that will later become the underside of the hand facing upward, so that rising air bubbles collect mainly on the side that will later be hidden. After cooking, let the hand rest wrapped in towels for about one hour. Then carefully cut open the glove and peel it away from the egg white piece by piece – do not pull, especially around the fingers and thumb. If something does break off, don’t worry: a little ketchup can turn it into the perfect Halloween effect.
